International Divorce: Ecuador and Switzerland
A client highlights how Veronica Cobo acted as his lawyer in Ecuador and coordinated a complex divorce, child-related matters and property division across Ecuador and Switzerland.
I am pleased to share my experience with Dr. Veronica Cobo’s services.
I am a Swiss citizen and was married to an Ecuadorian citizen. We have three minor children and were married for ten years, during which we acquired several properties in Ecuador and Switzerland. I live in Zurich, while my former wife and our children live in Quito.
When we decided to divorce, we did not know where to begin. We were unsure whether we needed a lawyer in Switzerland or Ecuador, what would happen with our children, how custody, visits and child support would be arranged, or how our properties would be divided.
On the recommendation of acquaintances, I contacted Veronica Cobo, who took charge of our case from beginning to end. She coordinated with different professionals in Ecuador and Switzerland to obtain the necessary documents, powers of attorney, certificates, and other paperwork.
Although the divorce and matters concerning our children involved two different countries, everything was handled promptly and efficiently. Once these matters were resolved, Veronica also helped us reach an agreement on the division of our assets, which was settled within a short time.
My former wife and I are sincerely grateful for the way Veronica handled all our matters, even when complications arose. She always remained professional while showing genuine understanding of our situation.
Having Veronica manage our case was a great relief. We were able to coordinate everything through her rather than having to deal directly with multiple professionals in different countries, which we greatly appreciated.
I would sincerely recommend Veronica.

International Inheritance: Ecuador and the UK
A client highlights how Veronica Cobo navigated the Ecuadorian legal aspects of a cross-border inheritance, coordinating with UK solicitors to achieve a successful outcome.
I am very happy to write about my experience of working with Dr Verónica Cobo. She provided valuable support in resolving a complicated inheritance matter involving Ecuador, the United Kingdom and Germany.
I am a German citizen and was in a long-term relationship with a British citizen, with whom I have a daughter. Our daughter was born in Ecuador. We were living together in Ecuador when my partner passed away without leaving a will. When I started the process of claiming the inheritance he had left in the UK, I instructed British solicitors to help me.
As the case progressed, the UK court needed information about Ecuadorian inheritance law and the rights of heirs under Ecuadorian legislation. My solicitors and I found it difficult to navigate the situation, particularly because the legal systems in the two countries are quite different.
That was when I turned to Verónica for help. From our very first conversation, she understood the bigger picture and explained everything in a way that was easy for me to follow. This was a huge relief, as I am not a lawyer and was still grieving the loss of my partner while looking after our daughter on my own. For the first time, I felt that someone really understood my situation and knew what needed to be done.
Verónica worked closely with my UK solicitors and took care of the Ecuadorian legal aspects of the case. She coordinated with everyone involved, including lawyers, courts, notaries and public authorities in both countries. She also prepared all the necessary documents, explained the relevant points of Ecuadorian inheritance law and made sure that each stage of the process was properly managed.
Thanks to her organisation, plan, attention to detail and commitment, the matter was successfully resolved, and my daughter and I received our inheritance without unnecessary delays.
What impressed me most was how quickly Verónica understood what was needed and how effectively she brought everyone together to move things forward.
Just as importantly, she was genuinely kind and caring throughout the process. She understood how difficult this time was for me and was committed to helping my daughter and me reach a positive outcome as quickly as possible. Her guidance made a real difference during one of the most difficult times in my life.
Having Verónica by our side was one of the best decisions I could have made. I am truly grateful for everything she did for us and would recommend her without hesitation.

Complex Family Matters and Multiple Legal Proceedings
A client describes how Veronica Cobo developed a coordinated strategy for complex legal proceedings across several countries.
My name is N. T. I’m an Ecuadorian-Spanish citizen living in Spain. After an extremely difficult separation and divorce from my American ex-husband, I found myself facing more than ten completely unfounded legal proceedings in Ecuador, as well as a criminal case, while trying to protect myself and my daughter’s well-being.
I lost custody of my daughter, contact between us was cut off, and I eventually moved to Spain with several legal proceedings still pending against me. At one point, I felt completely lost. I struggled to understand what was happening and didn’t know which professionals I needed. I’d even had lawyers withdraw from representing me because the cases involved different areas of law.
That’s when a friend recommended Dr. Verónica Cobo. From our very first conversation, she looked at the whole situation and helped me understand my cases in a way no one else had managed to. It was as though she were translating everything for me, making sense of a situation that had felt impossible to understand.
She identified what needed urgent attention, put together a clear plan to address my legal situation as a whole, and even discovered another proceeding against me that I hadn’t known about. She also connected me with the right professionals in Spain, Ecuador, and the United States.
For the past two years, Verónica has overseen my entire legal situation, coordinating professionals across different countries and keeping track of a very complex network of proceedings. She’s brought clarity, organization, and direction to a situation that once felt completely overwhelming. Thanks to her guidance and coordination, almost all the cases have now been resolved successfully, and we’re working toward a successful conclusion of the last one. Sometimes, it still feels unreal that we’ve come this far.
What I value most is that Verónica never lost sight of the fact that these weren’t simply legal cases or a bunch of papers. She truly understood that this was about my life and my daughter’s life, and that made an enormous difference to me.
I honestly don’t know how I would’ve managed to move forward without her guidance, professionalism, and support. Entrusting her with the overall management of my legal situation was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made in my life.
Today, I can finally see the end of a long and painful legal ordeal and begin to look to the future with hope.
Thank you, Verónica, for everything you’ve done. I’m most grateful.

Global Mobility and Spanish Non-Lucrative Visa
A client describes how Veronica Cobo identified a suitable visa route, guided her application and continues to support her Spanish nationality application.
I am a Honduran citizen who was living in Ecuador, and I have two children who live in Spain. I have always dreamed of living in Spain with my children and grandchildren, but whenever we tried to find out how to make it happen, the information was confusing and overwhelming.
Veronica made everything so much easier for us. During our first meeting, she took the time to understand my situation in Ecuador and my children’s circumstances in Spain. After listening to me and reviewing my case, she recommended applying for a Spanish non-lucrative visa, which turned out to be the right option for me.
Veronica guided me through the whole process, explaining everything clearly and taking me through each step. She was always kind, patient and happy to answer my questions. The documents I submitted to the Spanish Consulate in Quito were perfectly prepared, and my visa was approved in just one month, without any requests for additional documents or information. I was especially pleased with how smoothly everything went, knowing that visa applications can sometimes be refused.
Since moving to Spain, Veronica has also helped me renew my visa, and she is now supporting me with my application for Spanish nationality.
I cannot say how happy I am to have Veronica looking after my immigration matters in Spain. Moving to another country can be stressful, but she has made the whole experience so much easier and given me real peace of mind.
I am truly grateful for all her help and would recommend Veronica without hesitation.

Spanish Digital Nomad Visa and Neurodivergence
A couple shares how Veronica Cobo tailored her advice to their long-term plans and neurodivergence, helping them choose a suitable relocation option and secure their Spanish Digital Nomad Visas.
I’m a Canadian citizen married to an American citizen, and we were living in Montreal. I’m autistic and have ADHD, and we reached out to Veronica to help us explore the best options for moving to Europe.
From the start, Veronica took the time to really get to know us and understand our situation. She asked about our work and professional backgrounds, but she was also genuinely interested in our short- and long-term plans and what we hoped to achieve. She also took my neurodivergence into account, which meant a great deal to me.
After carefully considering our circumstances, she recommended looking into the digital nomad visas for Spain and Portugal. But Veronica went beyond simply explaining the visa options. When she learned how much I love gardening, she helped us think about our future in a more practical way. She explained why Spain might be a better fit for us, especially if we wanted to buy a home in southern Spain one day, with enough outdoor space for me to enjoy gardening.
We took her advice and applied for the Spanish Digital Nomad Visa.
Veronica took care of everything! She guided us through each step, clearly explained what we needed to do, and was always happy to answer our questions and talk through any concerns. This was especially important to me because I feel much more comfortable when things are clear and I know what to expect.
She handled the application with me as the primary applicant and my husband as my dependent. We received approval in just two weeks while we were in Spain, which was wonderful and much quicker than we’d expected.
We’re now enjoying our time in Spain with the tranquility that our immigration status is sorted.
Thanks, Veronica, for all your help, patience, and care throughout the process. We couldn’t have asked for better service!

Managing Legal Matters in Ecuador from Abroad
An Ecuadorian client in Lisbon highlights how Dr Cobo identified the right visa route for Portugal and continues to manage her legal and property affairs in Ecuador from abroad.
I would wholeheartedly recommend Dr Veronica Cobo.
I am Ecuadorian and have been living in Lisbon for over seven years. Throughout this time, Veronica has helped me with my legal matters in Ecuador, Portugal and Spain, and she has always done an excellent job.
I am now living in Portugal thanks to Veronica’s thorough analysis of the best options for my personal circumstances. She recommended applying for a Portuguese Retirement Visa and prepared all the necessary documentation for me. I simply had to attend the Consulate with the carefully prepared bundle. I felt greatly relieved knowing that Veronica had taken care of everything.
Since then, she has managed my properties and legal and financial affairs in Ecuador, prepared powers of attorney and other paperwork, assisted with visa applications, and supported me with property purchases in Portugal and Spain. She is always efficient, reliable and thorough in everything she does.
What I value most about Veronica is the peace of mind she gives me, knowing that I am in good hands. She is a lovely person who explains everything clearly and always keeps an eye on my affairs. She also tells me from the outset how much each matter will cost, so there are never any surprises or unexpected expenses.
She is also representing me in a land dispute in Ecuador, and throughout the process I have always felt well looked after and supported.
Entrusting Veronica with all my legal matters has been one of the best decisions I have made, especially as I live outside Ecuador.
Kind regards,

Relocating to the UK with Neurodivergent Children
A client describes how Veronica Cobo developed a tailored relocation plan for his family, addressing practical needs and support for his autistic daughter.
My name is L. E. I am a Spanish citizen and contacted Veronica Cobo on a professional recommendation to help us decide whether relocating to the UK would be the right move for my family during the Brexit transition period.
From our very first conversation, Veronica was warm and approachable, and she made me feel comfortable sharing all my questions, concerns and hopes about moving to England. She put together an excellent plan tailored to our family’s circumstances, particularly as one of my daughters is autistic.
My wife, our two daughters and I knew very little about what moving to another country would involve, but Veronica guided us through the whole process. She helped me explore employment opportunities, find suitable accommodation for our family, and understand how to register with a GP and find schools. She also helped us access support for our autistic daughter, including services we had no idea were available.
Her help extended to all the practical details of settling into a new country, from choosing utilities such as water, electricity and internet to helping us connect with our church and find a sense of community.
Veronica has continued to support us over the years and has been a tremendous help when it came to our daughters’ university applications.
Thanks to Veronica, our move to the UK has been a very positive experience. Her guidance and support have been invaluable to our family, and we are truly grateful for everything she has done for us.

Domestic Abuse, Human Rights Support and Case Preparation
A client shares her experience of how Dr Verónica Cobo helped her access specialist support, organise evidence and prepare documentation while rebuilding her life after experiencing domestic abuse.
My name is Ana. I am Colombian and married to a European citizen. When I experienced domestic abuse in my marriage, I turned to Verónica Cobo for help.
Verónica acted quickly and put me in touch with a human rights organisation that supports migrant women experiencing domestic abuse. The organisation took on my case, and Verónica remained by my side throughout this very difficult period.
I was so emotionally affected that I could barely speak English. Verónica stayed with me and helped me translate from Spanish into English and explain what had happened to me. She made sure that the people supporting me clearly understood my situation and everything I was going through.
I was advised to gather evidence of the abuse I had experienced, and Verónica supported me throughout the entire process. She guided me on the documents I needed and how to obtain them. She arranged appointments, requested letters on my behalf with my authorisation, and accompanied me whenever necessary. She also helped me obtain records from the hospital, my GP, the police, a neighbour, my landlord, my church and my workplace. Verónica even assisted me in obtaining documents from Colombia that required the apostille. She organised all the documentation into a detailed case file so that the professionals handling my case could fully understand what I had experienced and provide me with the support I needed.
Verónica also helped me access therapy, which has been essential in helping me cope with everything that happened.
She has continued to support me and work with different organisations as I seek justice and rebuild my life. Today, I have a job and live in a safe place. Honestly, I don’t know what I would have done without her. When I needed help the most, she helped me overcome fear and uncertainty, find the right support, and begin to regain control of my life.
I will always be grateful to Verónica for standing by me during one of the most difficult periods of my life and for continuing to support me.
